What I talk about when I talk about “This” and “That”.

This was the title of something that Franz had written and wanted to share with us. It talks about how most people or society want us to do “This” when we really are passionate about doing “That”.
I related it a lot to Self-Reliance, in the sense that we have to take responsibility and do what we want with our life, not what everyone else wants us to do. I also related it to corn-pone opinions, because it is the exact proof that no idea is truly original. Franz told us how he came to write this, it was when he was deciding to join the MPC, way before we had read Kant´s Enlightenment, Twain´s Corn-Pone Opinions and Emerson´s Self-Reliance. He thought at the time that maybe he was writing something original, when really all three of the essays mentioned talk about the same thing.

Apart from all of this, I like what he wrote and while we were reading it I couldn't help imagining the new MPC students reading it.
