Self-Reliance 2.

We are having trouble reading Self-Reliance. We all have our on thoughts, our own past knowledge. We all need to let go of all that and just pay attention to what Waldo is telling us.

Here are some of the conclusions we reached today:

  • Adults are at mercy of the children. People become infants in the presence of a child but the child does not become an adult in the presence of adults. Infancy rules. In Waldo´s words: Infancy conforms to nobody: all conform to it.
  • Children are authentic, they speak their minds. They don't mind authority, are innocent, and don't really care about all of the rules society has.
  • We should all act liked kids.

How is acting child like related to great men?
  • No prejudices
  • Are open because they know that they don't know.
  • Don't conform.
  • Remain unconquered.
  • Trust themselves.
  • They remain true to themselves.
