Atitlán: Day 3 (Oct 10)

Today, I was supposed to go kayaking at 5:15, but some of the girls wouldn't stop talking last night (and of course I joined the conversation) and it was raining and was very windy, so I decided not to go kayaking, although I regret it now. I still woke up at 5, took a shower (before the girls caused chaos in the bathroom) and then went back to sleep.

Can you guess what we talked about in our morning meeting? Food. I thought we had cleared this up yesterday, but I guess I was wrong. All of this just has to do with everyone’s commitment issues.
We went to a town called San Juan la Laguna on the other side of the lake. The group kind of split up since the beginning and half of us went to a textile factory. After that we walked into town, but since I didn't want a tour guide, we split up again. The town was very nice and all of the people who lived there were also nice. We had bee told about this restaurant that was supposed to be very good and everyone decided to eat there. Personally the restaurant didn't seem like the right choice and I decided to go for something a little bit more local. So three other people accompanied me and we found this nice little dinner with an excellent view of the lake. The food was great and we had a great time.

We were supposed to meet at 1:45 at the docks so we could all take the boat together. When we got to the docks, no one else was there. Finally three more people showed. All 7 of us waited for over 45 minutes. When we called them, the only answer we got was tha they were going to be late an didn't really know how long. We got tired of waiting so we decided to take one of the boats back to the hotel. We  also talked to the boatmen on our way back and they told us that they also had to cancel other rides that they had planned for the day.

For the last two days, everyone has been complaining about our commitment issues (with the trip, with the rooms, with the food), but how about the commitment to us? I mean they all were committed to be at the docks at 1:45, they could’ve at least called us.

This was our last night here and at dinner Mabe and Alejo played a couple songs for us. We jumped into the lake at around 1 am and all other issues were left behind.
