Week 8 Interview

Today we had our eighth week interview with Bert and Ingrid. The interview consisted of two parts: in the first part I had to talk for 10 minutes about my experience in the MPC, and the second part consisted on Bert and Ingrid having a dialogue about me (without me interrupting or anything).

For the first part I talked about how much I liked MPC and how I believe I made the right choice in getting in. I also talked how much I enjoyed the readings and the essays and how much I have enjoyed learning. I also mentioned how I wanted to be like Benjamin Franklin, in the sense that I wanted to have his values and that I thought the MPC was a great place to achieve those. I also talked about how I admired all of the Founding Fathers and all of the other great characters like Cornelius Vanderbilt, J.P. Morgan and Rockefeller, and how people should be like them now a day.

For the second part Bert and Ingrid talked about my progress here at the MPC and these are some of the things they said:

I am an incredible reader.
  • I ease people into talking, into joining the circle; I have a disarming quality.
  • I tend to smile when I am sharing my knowledge. Although at the beginning I didn't smile  because I was confused about being at the MPC, but with time I relaxed and committed to the MPC and started smiling.
  • I have a very special humor; I show the joy of learning new things MPC style.
  • I make connections about topics on my own.
  • I have had a good preparation for the past 8 weeks, but I have a lot of potential the only thing I am missing is to discover that I have the power to be a catalyst and have plain power.
  • I have very good values and a huge integrity.
  • I should share that knowledge and love that I  have for history. I should show that history has something to give and contribute. I am myself when I show that knowledge.
  • I have a wide range of interests and a great reading background, this should be modeled at the MPC.
  • I have the soul of a teacher.
  • I love a challenge. I model this for the MPC because I am not afraid of the tasks, I know that they are hard work but possible but I have to be committed to be more vocal and to give advice to my classmates.
  • I am holding creativity that I haven’t had the time or place to explore. I am an artist.
  • I have multiple intelligences.
  • God send me to the MPC.

I think you can guess how I felt after this interview. It was a great experience and I noticed a lot of stuff about myself that I really hadn’t taken into account before. But I do need to work on some aspects of all of this in order to give my best and be the best person I can.
