Gödel, Escher, Bach #1

At the end of the day, computers are designed by rules, they work with rules that humans gave them. So, can machines be more intelligent than humans?
What would happen when the computers can self-modify? Would it matter that the humans created them?

What does a machine need to be more intelligent?

  • Has to be capable of perceiving.
  • Sensory order.
  • Free will.
  • Values.
  • Survival/Self-conservation.
  • No human intervention once it is created.
  • Memory.
  • Effectors (legs, arms)
  • Self-assesment.
